Bloody hell what am I doing? Alright I'd better get this over with.

[There's the sound of someone clearing their throat and then a defeated sigh.]

Everyone I need to talk to you about one of our new arrivals. His name is Alucard and he's uh, my Master. I know he doesn't seem like the most normal of people and if he's already scared some of you I'm sorry, but he just likes spooking people that's all. He didn't really deal with people outside of our work back home so he did that a lot.

Now if he um...look if you have a problem with him can you at least contact me first and I'll try to fix it, alright? Also please, please don't get into a confrontation with him. He's not going to back down and he takes these things very seriously and it doesn't end well so just don't.

I know it's a bit soon, but I just wanted to know how soon the new Harkonnen can be ready? I might need it.

No, that happened years later after I'd become a cop.

It is preferable that one know how to make the actions necessary for her survival while still young. But I suppose you were fortunate to have escaped the scenario intact.

Not that young. I was lucky though.

[Considering how much of her ended up splattered on the wall behind her calling it was almost a miracle she didn't die.]

On Alternia, it was necessary that we had knowledge of defending ourselves after freshly hatching, if we expected to emerge from the caverns intact.

We would be selected by a lusus once that trial was completed, and that would provide us some protection afterwards. But it's not a knowledge we can let stagnate, if we expected to continue our existence.

There's really no age too young, in that context.

And even if you need to learn that at that age it's still not right. Kids...shouldn't have to worry about that. Not ever.

The, uh, methods by which we reproduce are far divergent from humans. You follow a more mammalian model, no Mother Grubs to act as intermediaries whatsoever.

I'm not going to say I entirely disagree, only because I'd prefer to spare my compatriots from such worries.

[Even if Master didn't teach her much about being a vampire at least he was still there. To be completely on your own though trying to figure it all out, it was hard to imagine that.]

It simply occurred following my death. I'd been in the state hardly an hour following my initial arrival here.

I've learned a fair degree about how it works since, better than I've had opportunity to on my short return to my native timeline.

I've never heard of that happening before, but I could ask my Master. He might know something.

Well, there are noticeable differences between human vampires and rainbow drinkers already, and this may easily extend to our origins.

Your kind have no fondness for the rays of the solar orb, correct?

That's right. We sort of go up in fire if we're out during the day, well not all of us. Master can go out during the day and so could some of the Major's, but I don't think it's very comfortable for them.

I've never understood that, much less the fear my own compatriots have displayed for sunlight, though our native celestial pivot was of a far more searing nature. At least, that was the claim they would always make in regards to it.

Personally, I've always found it rather pleasant.

So you can walk out during the day?

I believe it may be more accurate to say that instead of having the capability to withstand the sunlight, I have something of a need for it. This isn't to say that I cannot survive in darkness, but I by no means prefer it.

So you drink rainbows and blood?

Uh. Well, trolls have many varied hues to our blood. This is the origin of the metaphorical rainbows I'm known to drink.

The solar energy I don't consume in quite the same manner, as it lacks any manageable corporation through which to do so. It's instead absorbed through the skin.

Okay that clears that up.

Still, I've never heard of a vampire that needed sunlight before, but well there's a lot I'd never heard of until I came here.

And, truth be told, prior to my arrival here, I'd never been informed of one who would be so barred from it! I'd been informed of the term by a human friend, at least, but the divergences hadn't been entirely detailed.

[ she puts one shimmering finger to her chin, though the glow is very minimal with her being so calm ] It's the dull quality of the skin that especially surprised me.

That's another thing, except for that Edward guy I've never seen vampires...glow.
