As the audio begins, anyone with a good ear or paying close attention will notice there isn’t complete radio silence between the time the feed turns on and when a woman begins speaking. Okay, I get it; Lachesis does not appreciate a hands on approach. Does she really call herself that? I guess she doesn’t get memos, but I thought I washed my hands of this alternate universe mess a while ago and I’m seriously not interested in being apart of it.

You wouldn't give a known criminal from your world a job at City Hall just because their rap sheet here might be non-existent, would you?

You're right, I wouldn't, but I also would know who they are and what their past is. I've [ read ] heard about a lot of what he did in the past, however, I've also had personal experience with him here. That experience means more than someone else's word.

This wasn't a situation where I just gave some random fuck the position of deputy mayor, this is someone who I've worked with for a long time before I gave him the position.

Don't get me wrong: I believe in second chances. I believe people can turn their lives around for the better if they really want it.

All I'm saying is be careful, Mayor Hundred. [ She means it. ] I'm hoping he's not playing you and others like the harp. He's got the brains for it, as much as I hate to admit it.

You know, as much as I would prefer to differentiate myself from my peers in the realm of politics, I'm pretty crafty when it comes to that shit.

Believe me, I know when I'm being manipulated, and he isn't doing that. [ At least only as much as mitch tries to manipulate him. ] Hopefully, with time, you'll be able to trust my judgement.

A lot of the people from your world I've spoken with have been good allies when needed.

I'm ninety-nine percent certain, anyway. Multiverse shenanigans: they're a pain in the butt.

Oh, a while ago. There've been more, obviously, but I don't keep a register of who's arrived from certain worlds. I have a little bit too much on my plate to keep that going. I'm sure you understand.
