[ Although his voice is tense -- it's impossible to fully omit the aggression from it -- Norman manages to disguise most of the anger in it as determined authority PR-mode. This is a time of crisis, after all, and he is a man with a plan. His building and his business were evacuated more or less safely (only the latter was in any way his responsibility) but now the very pressing factor of "where are these people going to live" remains pressing.

This is Norman Osborn. In light of this disaster to which I don't imagine we yet know the cause, I feel it's my duty to offer some shelter to those who may now have to do without. No need to suffer the storm on the streets.

The Norman Osborn Hospital of Psychiatric Evaluation has been outfitted to accommodate guests; the rooms [ "rooms" ] have fresh bedding and extra blankets, the library, cafeteria, and recreation areas will be open past usual hours, and there is plenty of food. It's impossible to know what the future will bring, but temporary solutions must come before the permanent in a crisis.

In the meantime, let's try to stay alive, shall we.

And heighten the security in the patient wing. Apparently some people are afraid of escapes.

Things are running as optimally as possible, given the circumstances.

And they'll continue in that vein? I expect them to. Particularly if we're expecting guests.

With all due respect, Danger, I have the right to know where my employees are going to be. Particularly considering the circumstances.

Given my consistent reliability, I see no necessity to justify my absence.
You can trust that I will manage my responsibilities efficiently, as I always have.

I assume you are at least somewhat capable of fending for yourself, Mr. Osborn.
Dr. Chilton, on the other hand, may require your attentive supervision.

This isn't about me, Danger. It's about knowing where my staff is.

I'm sure Dr. Chilton is smart enough not to recklessly venture out when the City's devouring itself.

This is, in fact, about you, Mr. Osborn.
Specifically, it is about your sense of control.
Which I must profess that I care less for now that the entire city has entered a state of crisis.

Then you'll have to get over it, won't you? I'm one of the few people in this City who has experience with potentially world ending catastrophes. If you paid attention we might all get out of this mess alive.

[ there's a tense, annoyed pause. ]

I am always paying attention, Norman.
But circumstances have shifted my priorities, and obeying you has suddenly become less important.

[ Oh no you didn't. ]

I owe you no such explanation.
You will do well to remember that I serve you by choice.
You are not my master.
You are not my father.
And I will meet your demands when I choose to.

I'm not sure where you got the impression that "by choice" somehow meant you can do whatever you please.

Have you not had the pleasure of my relative obedience to this moment?

"Relative" obedience is hardly enough. But if you want to go kill yourself out there be my guest, Danger. Why should I get in the way?

You underestimate me, Mr. Osborn.
As my employer, I would have hoped you might have a better understanding of my capabilities.
You will not be rid of my presence so easily.
You may expect me to return when I am finished.

We'll see. I know what you're capable of, but what's happening out there has nothing to do with any of your duties. Willpower has little to do with it.
