Bloody hell what am I doing? Alright I'd better get this over with.

[There's the sound of someone clearing their throat and then a defeated sigh.]

Everyone I need to talk to you about one of our new arrivals. His name is Alucard and he's uh, my Master. I know he doesn't seem like the most normal of people and if he's already scared some of you I'm sorry, but he just likes spooking people that's all. He didn't really deal with people outside of our work back home so he did that a lot.

Now if he um...look if you have a problem with him can you at least contact me first and I'll try to fix it, alright? Also please, please don't get into a confrontation with him. He's not going to back down and he takes these things very seriously and it doesn't end well so just don't.

Hers is a certain Matt Murdock, who saw to all the legalities involved with such matters as necessary, as he's involved with that field himself.

My mother, yes. Though she'd come to her end around the time that the series of events were set in motion that would bring us to the circumstances we left behind.

It was an inevitability that all of our lusii would die, but it was always in her destiny especially, as one more step in the cycle we two would perpetuate.

But it wasn't an event she had failed to prepare me for.

There's little need to be, as I said, this was only one event within a necessary process. From her death we gained what would have been necessary to birth her own progeny...had that...not been interrupted.

It's a complicated tale. Suffice to say that I had a friend who ultimately displayed himself to be exceedingly unfriendly.

How did it happen?

My dad worked undercover and some of the people he was investigating figured out he was a copper and then after the Met pulled him out they tracked him down to our home.

[And killed them both in front of her.]

Was it his occupation which inspired your own? I would imagine being raised with your biological ancestors might have such an effect on one's decisions.

Particularly in such a situation where vengeance is demanded.

I did become a cop because of my dad. Growing up I never thought of being anything else.

I'm not stupid though, I know it won't bring him back and that I'll never catch the bastards who did it, but at least I can stop it from happening to anyone else.

No, believing it will return them to you is naive, but that isn't he purpose of vengeance. It is because the action demands it, like a sin crying for correction. Vengeance is exacted because certain individuals simply don't deserve to continue their respective existences.

I know and there's more than a few like that here, but the Porter sort of makes it a little difficult.

No, that happened years later after I'd become a cop.

[Oddly enough she was shot on that occasion too.]

It is preferable that one know how to make the actions necessary for her survival while still young. But I suppose you were fortunate to have escaped the scenario intact.
