Anyway this is the park. Lots of trees and squirrels... [Come to think of it maybe the park wasn't the best idea. Because she was starting to feel the urge to chase after said squirrels and bark at them.]

Hold on. She's going to look up directly at the sun, shielding her eyes with her hand.*

[Jade's a little distracted by a nearby squirrel, she lets out a low growl but manages to snap her attention back to Feferi.]

The sun isn't burning us.

Does that mean that somefin's wrong?

[She smiles.] Humans don't get burned by the sun.

...Well, that's not entirely true. If you spend too long out in the sun you will get burned and it hurts and itches.

Really?! That's amazing!

On Alternia, the sun is so strong that almost NOBODY can go out during the day! That's how Terezi got blinded, too!

But you can go out here during the day and everything's okay? Wow!

[Jade nods, smiling brighter.] Yup! Humans sleep at night and do all the fun stuff during the day. Or so I've be lead to believe.

Living on a island away from civilization has meant not really knowing how other people live.

That's totally the opposite of how it is on Alternia! That's so interesting!

...why did you live there?

The island had a bunch of old ruins and Grandpa enjoyed exploring and discovering. We probably would have moved somewhere else, in time, if he hadn't died. [She smiles fondly as memories of the old man surface.]

[Jade nodded. It was kind of her fault as well as Tavros' but no need to get into that.] But in a way he was always still around. And I had Bec to look after me.

[Jade simply nods. Some people find the whole stuffed dead family member thing a little morbid.]

We call them dogs, but yes that was Bec.

[Jade giggles and settles on the bench beside Feferi.]

I guess it is pretty weird. But it's a lot less literal than 'barkbeast'.

Trolls like literal names! It means that you understand more about it without having to waste all your time learning?

[Jade giggles again.] That's kind of silly but I guess, in a weird way, it kind of makes sense.

It abshoalutely makes sense! There are a lot of really neat things about troll culture... but now that I'm here I guess I'll learn a lot more about human culture too!

[Jade's ears flick back and forth as she thinks about it. After a few moments she shrugs.] I'm sure they're doing quite well.

How many of them did you know, anyway? I lost track of who was glubbing to who!

[Jade pushes back her hood and gives her head a shake.] You know, I'm not sure. I spoke with several of them but most were just brief conversations.
