My apologies to anyone I may have offended during my most reason bout of delusions and insanity.

With that out of the way, I'd like to solicit a bit of information. I'm curious to know what the general inhabitants of this City know about the Avengers. What are your opinions of them? Do you know them as Osborn's team, or are you familiar with a different, in my opinion, vastly superior, incarnation? I can offer no meaningful compensation for your time, however, I assure you that it is appreciated.

[filtered to Tony Stark and Natasha Romanov;]
By my count there are now three of us. That's rather unfortunate, isn't it? ... Do correct me, if I'm mistaken.

[filtered to Steve Rogers, Wanda Lehnsherr, Thor, Angelica Jones, Luke Cage, Clint Barton, Bobbi Morse and Daniel Rand]
Are we truly going to allow Osborn to create this facility with absolutely nothing so much as an investigation into its legitimacy? I realize that he is nigh untouchable in this world, but we know what he's done.

Further, ignoring the insult that is Osborn and his team, we are Avengers. We cannot allow ourselves to be ignored, or shoved to the sidelines merely because Tony Stark demands the spotlight.

[Booga's kicking back, cigarette in his mouth, feet on the work table.]

Taking a break... TV in the workshop somehow got knocked to shit. Not entirely sure how that happened, but I got theories.

[There's a metal ball rolling on the table. Its smoking. Booga's kicking it softly with one of his feet idly]

Dirty limericks. That's a good way to pass the time.

[He sits upright, pulling the cig from his mouth and clearing his throat.]

There lived a man with a wicked 'stache
Who'd buy all his women with cash
To all the bints bought, his mustache was caught!
A mouse trap was shoved up her snatch

There are things I would like to discuss with you both. We should speak.

[yep, this is completely shameless bragging. Sanji clicks on the video while it's still in his hand and then nestles the comm against something so that it gets a good shot of the beach he's sitting on, and the sailboat anchored just off-shore amid stupidly blue water - and him, too. He's wearing a casual shirt for once (blue, with stripes, and unbuttoned all the way), and has his pants rolled up calf-high. Most importantly, that grin shows that he's probably the happiest he's been since Liadrin kissed him last Christmas, happier than anyone has likely ever seen him]

Ah, sorry I didn't let certain people know I made it safely to the islands until now. I actually reached them yesterday, but then I had to look for a place to anchor, check things out, resupply, and so on. And then I just couldn't be bothered, because look at this damn place.

[as he leans back to give the comm a good look, one might be able to spot the pirate flag hanging from the mainmast of the sailboat]

I really can't say how long I'm going to spend here, exploring the islands. There's a lot of tourists around, but it looks like they stick with the resorts and the sanctioned beaches - not a lot of them go out to sea. I'm going to see what I can see and head back when I damn well feel like it, so...take care of yourselves. [sobering slightly] The minute I turn my back on the city you all get trapped in another crisis. Might want to take better care of things so it doesn't happen again, hm?

I'll come back, though. There's too many damn assholes who need to be kicked in the head, personally. Otherwise I'd be tempted to stay here forever. [back to cheerful!] And I promised Miss Yukina a seashell! I found a gorgeous one today, Miss Yukina, you'll love it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I caught some fish this morning that need to be grilled for lunch.

Ah. Miss Doyle? If you've a moment, I wish to speak with you about one Sirius Black.

It would seem that he is most eager to be rid of you. I tried to persuade him to feel otherwise, but it was work done in vain--at which point I had rather begun to hope that he would be enough of a gentleman to tell you himself, but it would seem that he is instead little more than a coward. Therefore, the duty falls to me.

Quite frankly, considering the plans he's laid for his future, I would advise you to cut the ties and move on, for your own sake. You are far too kind and noble a young lady to dirty your hands dealing with the likes of such delinquents. No doubt he will soon find some vapid waste of air more suited to the constant harassment and emotional hurricanes through which he means to put her for whatever passes for his entertainment.

Do take care.

[Locked to Sirius and James (and Remus, since he'd probably get shown anyway)] )

It's always strange when something that starts out so horrible ends up making everything better afterwards, when you truly feel like it was worth it all. It's sort of a rare feeling, but really nice!

All these things that always happen... every time I think I'm used to them all, something new happens and I realize that things aren't normal. Day to day life is punctuated with new arrivals and bizarre happenings that people that aren't on this network don't even seem to even be aware of. It makes me wonder a bit if there is really a normal here, or if things being abnormal is what's normal.

[[a slight pause]]

It's really impossible to try and be like you were back where you came from in the City, isn't it?

[Private to Alastair, Kiryuu, Hiruma, Trowa, Matsuka, Quatre]

I'm going to be doing Thanksgiving dinner at the Mancave and you're invited! Let me know any special requests you want me to make! It'll be Thursday at 6!

[Myron turns the comm on and sets it down on the desk in his MAC apartment, sharpening a pencil, looking highly thoughtful.]

I've been quiet, I know, but it's quite a learning curve going from universe to universe. I think I'm all settled in now, but I have a vital question for you all, if you'll help me.

Powers. How did you figure out what the machine gave you? I don't want to learn the hard way that I'm not fireproof and I can't breathe underwater and that flying is still just for the birds.

And for people here who had powers back home, what is that like for you?

[getting up from the desk, adds] If you just want to tell me how your day was, that's fine, too.

[ Her voice is distant, as if the communicator is sitting a slight distance away, and you can hear music in the background, along with the dull thud of hard blows hitting a punching bag. ]

So, who around here has a decent right hook?

[ A particularly loud smack of a fist hitting the bag. ]

Or better, who wants to show me? 'Cause I ain't gonna sit around this place getting all flabby and nostalgic.

Busy past couple of weeks. Busy enough I haven't been able to pay attention much to this thing. If there's anything important that needs to be brought to my attention that you couldn't have done so through my phone line proper or to my face, now is a good time.

Otherwise, I have a question to pose of the more culinary bunch of you out there. Zatanna and I have taken it upon ourselves to make the best casserole. Every Saturday we've been making a couple, trying some concoctions out. Don't ask why, because those details are unimportant to this now. If you have any recipes or any suggestions to put into one, we are both all ears.

Oh, I guess some vegetarian [he says that with horror, but a horror that he doesn't realize he's putting behind the word] suggestions would be good, too. Since she doesn't eat meat. [Man, srsly, dudes, can you believe that?]

[Hems.] Speaking of which, Zatanna? A word?

Hi, everyone!  I've been wandering around and finding things and figuring out how they all work, and I think I've got it now!

Jaime and I were talking and she said that maybe we could try and have a Thanksgiving party 'cause we're all away from home, so I thought I'd try and make one next Thursday on Thanksgiving.  I've never planned a party before so if anyone else knows hoe you can help me!  I'm really good about accepting help!

So I found a nice little park near the MAC, I think it's mostly for dog walking, and I figure I can put up a big tent and make heaters that will keep people warm and totally not get in the way or start fires or be too loud.  And I'll make a lot of turkey and other things.  I'm good at cooking!  It's all chemistry and I'm really good at science!

And I'd like for anyone who wants to to come!  But I don't know how many people that'll be.  I hope a lot!  But I don't know how much I should cook so maybe everyone could bring something like a potluck?

That's all.  I hope everyone comes!

Just a quick announcement, if you're blind or don't watch a lot of tv, I'll be holding an open forum tomorrow morning at 9. Everyone is free to come, ask questions, or generally make big scene, although I won't guarantee that you won't be kicked out by security if anyone causes any problems.

So if you have questions, or concerns, or not clear on my stance about something, I encourage you to come by.

[Annabeth is seated on the couch in her new apartment, spinning a short-bladed dagger around in her hand lightly. She isn't looking at the weapon, the motion is practiced, easy...relaxed, really. She smiles faintly at the camera.]

Is anyone here good with weapons? I don't mean killing, I mean...fighting. Sparring, practicing...whatever really. I haven't practiced since I got here, and I am probably going to lose my edge soon. If I haven't already.

[She stopped spinning the weapon and held it up. The blade shimmered in the light, and appeared to be made of bronze.]

I usually use a dagger, but I'm trained with swords, spears, shields, tridents and nets. And some other things. And bare handed. I've seen people mention dojos and other places to train, but...I wasn't really looking into it before. If I'm really settling here...and I guess after all these months I better...

I need to practice.

Thought experiment time. Bear with me.

If death was really temporary? We’d have snuff films, society’s lowest common denominator emerging from back alleys with their hands cupping their guts, a couple of hundreds packed between their snarled, bloody teeth. This century's obsession with reality tv would have nothing on this. The trade would be underground to pander to society's need for self-righteous disgust, but people would watch, and whenever some poor fool brought it up, we'd change the subject.

Three billion dollars a year. Almost a third of what Hollywood makes. Death is expensive.

We’d have researchers, too, only their methods would come with a clean, white consent form and a disease, like “pancreatic cancer” or “cholera” or “furious rabies." The deaths they provide would be longer and save all those poor people who aren't you, but in the end, it would always be the same. Limbs twisting. Throat drying. Vision blurring in a snowfall of ash. You wonder why death isn’t merciful enough to take you permanently, and whether or not your suffering makes you special. It doesn't.

Talk to me about death in this city and how none of this happens. We are so civilized.

This will not be on the test.
