[ hello, network. brian kinney is on your screen at this very second, and he just looks pissed. ]

I don't know what the fuck this is, but you've got the wrong fag. Mikey's the one who's into this superhero shit. So cut the bullshit and send me back to the damn Burgh.

[ there's a pause. brian takes a breath, exhales a dark little laugh. ]

I had important things to do.

Hypothetical story time.

Ah, maybe it's more like a romance movie without an ending. In either case, I'm asking for advice.

The male and female leads of this story are entwined by destiny, and both have acknowledged it to some extent. However, be it pride or selfishness, one of the leads will not relinquish her ties with her current lover. Reasoning may quite possibly be ineffective, I'd say.

And a bit of spilt blood is expected when taking back a stubborn heart.

How should the hero proceed?

[Hello, City! Welcome to your latest video feed! It's upside-down. It will remain upside-down for the rest of the broadcast. If you would take a moment to turn your communicator 180°, the image will make much more sense. Today you have a young teenage boy with red eyes and incredibly stupid-looking hair. It spikes out in the back, and the front bangs look like rabbit ears or crab legs or something else ridiculous. He looks perplexed! Twisting the camera left and right; there's fronts of buildings stretching behind him.]

So then... is this working? [Tap tap!] Hello? Uh... Kotori? Tetsuo?

[The camera shakes rapidly as the boy treats the comm like a Magic 8-Ball.] ... Shark? [SIGH. Looking away from the camera now, still perplexed.] Where the heck is this place? The sun's the right color, but everything else--

[With another ridiculous shake of the communicator, the feed disconnects.]

[ All that's seen on camera at first is a skyline, before Felicia leans across the screen in her full Black Cat ensemble. She lays on her back propped up by her elbows, glancing over the edge of the roof at the growing number of lights spreading across the City as the sky grows darker before she looks at the camera. ]

For such a city of opportunity, has anyone else ever notice how slim the pickings are? [ Idly she smiles, raising one of her eyebrows. ] I always thought of myself as a girl with skill, but advertising around here just isn't what it's supposed to be. You have a whole different market to appeal to.

Point is... what good is a network if not to network? I'm a person that's good at getting things, including those things that might seem impossible. Keep me in mind if you ever need something rare and in a hurry. [ She winks to the camera, and after a measured pause she adds: ] As long as it doesn't break any laws.

Moving on from business -- I'm curious. What do you prefer in a costume? Spook-factor or satire? I have a lot of decisions to make.

[Cassie is sitting in her room, cross-legged, looking right at the camera. Her expression is falsely cheerful, belying the dark circles under her eyes. She also has several computer print-outs that she's going to use during her little notice to the network.]

Is it recording, Bot?

Yes, Mistress.

Okay, then. [She takes a deep breath.] Hey, network. Do you think this looks cute? [She holds up the first print-out.] Have you ever made one of these? [The second print-out.] Seen this in a store - [Number three.] - and decide you just had to have it? Is this - [Number four.] - your idea of politics?

Boy are you in fucking luck. Because this Halloween, for one night and maybe the last night of the world, we're all getting this. [She holds up the large drawing, pushing it forward so it fills the entire view screen. She continues to speak as she holds the image.] Congratulations, city, it's our very own Lovecraftian shit-storm.

[She drops the notebook and lets the drawing fall to the floor.] If the Porter, or whoever's planning these little holiday entertainments is taking requests, can I just say, Night of the Lepus? Because drawing giant bunnies has got to be less nightmare-inducing than this crap. Seriously.

The water's all wrong. There's some kind of malice in the current, something I can't soothe, something that I can't understand or explain. And it feels dangerous. The marine life's upset, and I--... can't calm them, either. I've had dreams that-...

Dreams that involved graves.

Stay out of the water. [a pause, then] Nothing to do with--what's been going on, politically. Just stay away from the oceans for a little while.

[clicks off the comm and leaves it in an ocean grotto where he can come back for it later--he'll reply to comments with a slight delay.]

[ACTION]

[he's slipping in uninvited to Namor's home under the seas, trident on his back and waterhand clenched in a worried fist. A bad habit to meet threats with violence, he knows. But this particular threat isn't a hungry animal or a greedy surface force. And his inability to calm the sealife is worrying him.

He's never had anybody like Namor around before, though, and full disclosure is hard for him, so he slinks into Namor's room like a thief in the night, making barely a ripple.]
...King Namor?

I'd like volunteers. Anyone who can help with evacuations for the City's citizens, I'd appreciate your help. If you can offer your powers, I would appreciate it.

[ ooc; this is pretty much primarily for evacuating cityzens, and will likely be handwaved! ]
