Hello, friends and acquaintances and those I've yet to meet! I've learned today is part of a small series of days for picnics! I took a little time to do some research on the notion...and I've decided I'd quite like to participate in one, myself. Properly. As a human! [ohboyohboy.]

Would anyone care to join me? I've already secured the food and beverages required; having company is just as vital, if not moreso.

[ carol's in her room, sitting at her desk when she turns the feed on. she seems a little preoccupied with the dog tags she's slowly twirling around her fingers and it takes her a moment to start talking. ]

You know, I hardly ever use these things. I think I lost them in my sock drawer for a week a while back. But I'm willing to bet a good lot of you that use them for the MAC keep them pretty close. Maybe you stuff them in a pocket when you go out, or you keep them in a certain spot on your dresser. Personally? I'm used to wearing things like these around my neck.

[ she puts them on and carefully holds the tags in her hands. ]

I've got to say, it's weird seeing these against my shirt and with different info on them than what I keep expecting to see. [ a beat ] For those of you that don't know, dog tags are more properly known as identification tags. They're used by the militaries all over the world. In the US, soldiers are required to wear them at all times when in the field. If a soldier dies or is injured, the tags are used to identify them so they can either get the appropriate medical attention or so their families can be notified and any religious rites can be performed.

[ there's another pause and carol frowns a little. ]

The Porter pulls us here, calls us heroes regardless of who we were back home, gives powers to those who didn't have them before... and then gives us dog tags that actually have a name on them. And we don't really find that strange. ... Wonder why that is.

[The video clicks on to a slightly shabby looking warehouse. There's a plastic banner that says 'Xanatos Enterprises' hung up where the sign should be.]

After two weeks of constant meetings, paperwork and phone calls, I'm proud to say that Xanatos Enterprises is up and running. Granted, the business is small and I can only afford to hire one or two people at the moment, but we've got nowhere to go but up.

[He smiles, and looks back at the building...and frowns at the plastic banner.]

The first order of business, obviously, is to find a new sign. Anyway, I'm in the market to hire people. I'm looking for a secretary or personal assistant. Aside from that, I've got funds in the budget to hire one or two people to work in design, construction or research and development.

As for what Xanatos Enterprises can do? We plan to make strides in robotics and security. While most of our work will be in research and development, Xanatos Enterprises will be open to design and build personal commissions, prices and details negotiable.

[A nonchalant smile.]

And it's a nice belt. Really. It's terrific. The entire costume looks [ a strained pause ] really good on you…?

[ yup, that totally sounded like a question. ]

How about once more with feeling? [ this is probably the world’s most passive aggressive statement. There’s a shuffle of a cape and the comm shifts just far enough to show Batman perched up bird-style on the narrow ledge of the roof they’re standing on, wearing what looks like a regular old batsuit. He’s already got the batgoggles out and trained on whatever’s down below. Helena, you’re so out of the loop. ] I’m a big boy, Huntress. It’s fine if you don’t like it.

Right, fine. [she sighs, joining him on the ledge in a flutter of purple and blue. you're not making this any better, Dick. gosh.] I never said I didn't like it. It's not what I'm used to, that's all.

I swear the progression makes sense if you can see where it’s been. [ whatever he’ll cling to the impression that it’s the costume she’s weirded out by. And yep he’s starting to move his hips a little back and forth to some offbeat internal rhythm only he seems aware of. ]

But that’s not to say I don’t spend half my time in this thing missing how breathable the old one was. You know how much physicality it takes right out the equation in a fight? [ he’s dropping the goggles down off one eye, but not to look at Helena. ]

And that reminds me of something. ( sob cut for tl;dr )
