Isn't it shocking how people stay in this City?

[ Asks the Shade, who is in his study as usual, his comm set far enough away for him to rest comfortably and his dinner and fine drink to the side of him in plain view. He looks moderately amused with pretty much... everything right about now. ]

Or even, how we seem to keep gravitating back here? What is it about this place that encourages us to stay? What about it is so unique?

Or if you prefer, perhaps you could tell me what about this world makes it unusual compared to your own? Call it curiosity, if you will.

I'm wondering if Calvin can come over for, like, a night. We'd just hang and pla video games. It's summer and unless you have him in some sort of camp thing then it should be okay. I can pick him up too. Uh, we'd probably have to get a hotel room because I don't think Boyd would really want to house us for the night, but we'd have one of my people there since the guy follows me everywhere...

So, uh, yeah, I figured I needed to ask his parents before asking Calvin so you don't think I've stolen him or something. I promise I'm not some weirdo.

[Say hello city to a close up of Kenzi's nose for the split second it's there. She pulls back with a curious look on her face as she turns the camera one way then the other. Her mouth is moving but for a few seconds no sound can be heard.]
 

--he Fae happened? Did I get roofied again? Because seriously...waking up in strange places is getting old.
 

No, seriously. [The look on her face says she's completely serious.]

[She sets the comm down and for a few moments it's focused on her stomach where some dried blood can be made out if you're paying attention. There's also a decent sized cut in the cloth above her right hip that looks to be the source of the bleeding, or was. When she sits down her surroundings look to be a cemetery.]
 

I'm pretty used to freaky shit happening but this...this takes the cake. I wanna say I'm dreaming but I did that whole pinching myself thing and it hurt sooooo um...
 

[She presses her lips together and plays with a strand of her hair.]

Also, what the hell happened to your city man?  Hate to point out the obvious but it looks a bit like a warzone.
 

[She snatches up the comm and fiddles with it for a few moments before the feed shuts off.]

[ there's a pair of thumbs clumsily blocking the camera for a moment, and then a boy's face appears. the kid's barely a teenager, and he looks a little nervous, but he smiles politely for the camera. ]

Looks like it's working. Good. Uhm– [he takes a deep breath, then launches into a clearly-rehearsed speech] –Hi, everyone. My name's Alex Power. Obviously I'm new to this place, but I've already read all those pamphlets they gave us and done some research, so I think I'm mostly caught up on the City and how it works.

[ he smiles wider, though it's a bit forced. ]

It's pretty weird and all, but, my family lives in Manhattan, so I'm kinda used to weird. Superheroes really aren't anything new, ya know? [ he sighs, then catches himself and laughs a bit, awkwardly. ] If my parents were here they'd tell me to try and make the best of it, and that's what I'm going to do. I guess I'm headed to the MAC Building, so...if any of you are living there now, lemme me know if you want to meet up? I don't know anyone here yet.
