[Sup, network, have a Jay.

He's not doing too great right now.

He looks like he hasn't slept in a week, which is only a mild understatement and actually pretty par for the course, let's be real. It's also apparent he's not in his room at the MAC -- he's holed himself up in a hotel somewhere, because fuq dat shit.]

Has anyone seen Tim?

You know, black hair, sideburns, has this really bad... [he breaks off and turns away to cough into the crook of his arm, and then he finishes a little lamely:] ...smokers' cough?

I'm guessing he's not here anymore, but I wouldn't mind confirmation.

[He hesitates, almost as though there's something else he wants to add, but he just leans forward and cuts the camera off.

Yeah, he's not so keen on talking about that whole dying business.]

intothewoods: (but how do you feel about male models)

[Jay's recording himself, as always. He's curled up under a blanket on his couch, watching a movie He looks like he hasn't slept, dark graveditch bags under his eyes, and the shadows cast by the flickering of the television screen really aren't helping things.]

It's this early into October and they're already busting out the Halloween horror movie marathons.

[Disgust? Nah, just tired acceptance. He's just glad nobody has tried to put up Christmas decorations yet. Nobody bothers with Thanksgiving.]

Is it just me, or the older movies better than what we have now? I can't tell if it's some misplaced sense of nostalgia or time weeding out the really bad stuff, but there's Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, all sorts of stuff. And today there's-- what? There's nothing that really matches up. Just really terrible derivatives and sequels. Copies of copies of copies. When it isn't gorn, I guess.

I wonder what changed. Do monsters and serial killers even do it anymore? We really don't have anything as iconic as Freddy or Jason nowadays. Maybe that's what we're movings towards, then. Anonymity. The unknown.

Or maybe not. I haven't gone to see a movie in a theatre in- wow. Years. So what would I even know?

[He tiredly rubs at his face.]

I don't know why I'm talking about this. Or even watching this. I don't even like horror movies. Never could get into them, really. Just. Four in the morning ramblings, I suppose. Sorry.

[The park Jay's in looks nothing like the countrysides there was no birds singing and the pants were dead and the diet was messy and bloody from headcrabs. Actually, no, that's all patently untrue -- it's a nice, pleasant sort of park, one where people go to walk their dogs or take their kids out and such. Any imPorts watching might recognize the place. Jay's seated on a bench in a quiet area, near a pond with some ducks in it and other things that are in a pond too I guess. After a couple of moments of silence while he gathers his thoughts, he finally asks:]

Have you ever done something for a really long time and then had it all taken away from you?

[He absentmindedly fiddles with a tape in his hands, flipping it between his fingers. It's not exactly a nervous gesture, but Jay's a guy more comfortable behind a camera than in front of one.]

Kind of a stupid question, I guess. Everyone has gone through something like that just by virtue of being here. I'd just been working on something for a really long time, and now that I'm here, I can't anymore. I mean, I'm not exactly broken up about it, but it's just. It's weird to not have that any more.

I almost don't know what to do with myself.

[filtered to HABIT]

[Jay looks at the camera and wordlessly holds the tape up. READY WHEN YOU ARE, JERKASS]

[ The feed opens on a young man who looks as though he's in desperate need of a good night's rest. He glances at the camera, making sure it's aimed and angled properly before settling back. He's just arrived in one of the MAC apartments -- the walls are bare, the standard starter furniture hasn't been replaced or redecorated, and there's no evidence of any personal touches to the room.

Except for the many bags full of tapes on the floor and the camera in the background, of course. Keen observers might notice the tiny red dot of light indicting that it's on.

Is he filming himself filming himself?

you're goddamn right that's what he's doing

He idly plays with his new dogtags, watching the chain run through his fingers as he talks.]

It is June nineteenth, just a few hours since I've arrived... wherever here is. As far as names go, "The City" isn't very helpful or descriptive, but it's all I've got.

I've poked around the place a little since I got here. Even read the brochure they gave me. The channel is gone. The videos, my twitter account, pretty much everything but what I've got with me. If this is some elaborate birthday prank, it's really not funny. Or my birthday.

[He sighs and seems to change gears a little, switching from personal musings to addressing anyone who's there.]

I guess if anyone out there is really watching this thing, I've got a question. Does this... sort of thing happen often? One day youre just going about your business, then all of a sudden you wake up some place new with no idea how you got there and several weeks missing? Doesn't that, you know, bother anyone?
