[Loki has spend the past few weeks holed up in his lair, recuperating from what the Void did to him. But now he is better. Or, at least, he seems to be.]

The one you call the Sentryβ€” I suppose has not returned? [There is, for an instant, a flash of real fear. But then Loki shrugs, anticipating the answer. He would feel it, if Bob came back. Wouldn't he?]

'Twas a pity, what happened. But there is a moral here, for those brave enough to search it. The brightest light masks the deepest darkness. Heroesβ€” they are villains, too.

[The scene is outdoors, a forest somewhereβ€” dark, but not too dark to see by. There is a monster, hulking and brutish, looming over Loki, and for once Loki seems small by comparison. The horns are off, and his body language is much more shaken.]

You have failed to avenge me. I lie rotting and my sword lays undrawn.

No, fatherβ€” you are large, and you are strong, but the quality of mercy is larger and stronger still.

[The brute raises his arms, preparing to strike. Loki's arms are likewise raised, but in defense, and not in anger.]

You are one of them, now!

[Now, Loki saw this "haunting" as a nuisance at first, and then realized he could play it for sympathy. He would give the network a glimpse at his wretched origin and score some "he's not evil, he's just misunderstood" points. But at this moment and with those words, Loki's composure slips, just a bit, and true anger spikes his words.]

I will never be one of them.

[The feed cuts out. Replies will be ICly delayed.]

[Loki's boredom is palpable.]

Let us speak of masks. That should be a familiar topic to many of you. Theβ€”Β [he sneers, searching for the correct vocabulary] machine still encourages those it kidnaps to take on other names, does it not?

Some would call that dishonest. But I find it remarkably small-minded, to mistake lies for secrecy. How can a name we are given be more true than one we give ourselves?

Ah! But I prattle. Are you glad for the fact that these devices now keep names? Or did you relish the anonymity?

[It's Loki, who has apparently managed to acquire that sword he wanted. Or, at least, a sword. He regards it intently, runing his fingers up and down the blade.]

It seems there is a sort of mischief afoot! Face-changers are said to walk amongst us unknown and unseen. I am no stranger to suspicion, but I shall take some pains to cast off its yoke.

[Loki is going to use the sword to chop off his hand for the network, hurrah! It falls to the ground with a small thud sound. He bends down to retrieve it, apparently dropping the sword in the process.]

Rather pale, but not a hint of green, I'd say.

[The hand is pretty quick to reattach itself, and Loki waves cheerily before the video cuts off.]

I've need of a sword.

Do any amongst you count yourselves crafters? Or shall I be forced to brave the vagaries of your internet?

The air runs thick with prophecy. I liveth not amongst you, so I can call myself no witness, but 'tis difficult to look upon the coming days without the pang of dread. Some have fled, I suppose, but many yet have stayed.

I wonder, for what danger wouldst thou abandon thy homeland?

I may be speaking now what hath already been spokenβ€” today I would talk of magic.

Do you find it the same, here? Or has this world changed it?

Forgive my curiosity. I've a reputation for tricks, but I swear I am up to no witch hunt.

Tell me true, does the device which brought us hence reshape the mortal form? I did not pay the thing much heed upon our meeting. My head was clouded with anger, unwisely, and it is difficult to hear in a storm.

I hear that those who did not wear human forms now do, and that those who ever did now find their limbs capable of wonders undreamt. But canst thou name thyself "human" if that be not in thy beginnings? And is the boon of powers purchased in the coin of humanity?

After allβ€” the stories say that here the dead may rise. 'Tis expected. And what is the ribbon that binds humanity together, if it be not death?

'Tis quite the clever tyranny, I'll give it that.

I am told that mortals feed themselves stories so that, satiated, they may sleep.

I find that I am often fed the moral without the tale. 'Tis difficult to digest, that way.

Mayhap I could trouble thee for a story. One they tell in your lands, in low voices. One that held you safe through the night.

I gather you are upset with me for reasons I can only suppose. Know that I despise being defined by the future even more than I mislike being condemned for my past.

And yet I am curious.

[Lo, it is Loki. Loki is standing on the sidewalk. Pretend it is afternoon, because in this post it is. While the street is busy, for some reason passersby seem content to give Loki some room.]

It seems this device was hewn for question-making. For often I hath seen and heard questions asked, and often answers do follow. So I confessβ€” I've need of thine aid.

My dilemma is simple: from which wagon shall I sup? [The camera pans to two food carts. There is this blue one and this red one.]

Choose wisely. 'Tis into thy hands I entrust my digestion.

[See, look, Loki is doing totally harmless mundane things, we should all totally trust Loki!!]

[Loki is standing in the middle of his magnificent kingdom of candy. There are a few people nibbling/taking pictures/generally gawking in the background, but for whatever reason Cityzens are giving Loki some space. It's probably the hat.]

It would take no keen powers to observe my most recent and regrettable handiwork. [Gesturing to Candyland behind.] More regrettable still, I can at this moment offer you naught but these wordsβ€” 'twas an honest mistake. The magic of this place is rife with peculiarities. My haste to conjure an escape from this reality, something I need not state would benefit all of us so trapped, has borne some rather odd side-effects. It would be an act of ill faith to claim not the misfortunes of mine own making. Thus I speak now, in defiance of my pride.

I am searching the entirety of my power for the remedy. Mayhap there are those amongst you who would add theirs to the cause? My hope is that this shall be but a temporary inconvenience, though my remorse will no doubt live on.

[It's the morning news, and a sandy haired, square jawed newsanchor is babbling about unusual happenings in a certain City district. "Maybe we should call the usual happenings," he jokes, in his chipper newsanchor way. He directs the camera to Trish, their on-site reporter.]

As you can see, Tedβ€”

[And you can see. The reporter is wearing a fuchsia suit, alarming on its own, but behind her appears to be a scene from either a child's picture book or a dentist's nightmare. Streetlamps have been replaced with giant candy canes, bricks with slabs of chocolate, frosting everywhere. If you squint hard, you might be able to recognize the intersection.

Poor Trish struggles to get a few more words out, but is mauled by a pack of ravenous kindergartners, nearly pushing her over in their mad sugar rush. She straightens out her hair and her pencil skirt, finding her footing as the danger passes. But she's run out of time, the crew is motioning for a commercial. She tries her best for a winning smile, looking the camera dead-on.]

And now, back to the studio.

(OOC: Loki won't be replying to this post, but characters are free to react. This is just to let y'all know that candy plot is go.)

[The comm turns on abruptly, showing an ant's eye view of a bustling sidewalk and a yellow-booted foot, and someone talking in urgent tones]--ust return without delay, the fate of Asgard depends on it! [then a flash of green as the comm is absently retrieved. The owner tucks it away in a pouch at his hip without turning it off, seemingly unaware it's recording, and addressing the passerbys with a growing concern]

Do any here know my lord Balder? It's imperative we speak--Asgard is under siege, its people imperiled--[apparently people don't care, and/or they're doing the whole thousand-yard-stare thing, because he doesn't get an answer, or at least not one that's audible or satisfactory.

After a few minutes of the feed running in darkness, he adds, despairingly.]

..Then all is lost.

I understand that there are many amongst us who do not classify themselves as human. What further intrigues me, is that some have been created human by that device same device that brings us here. But this is far from a universal occurrenceβ€” some yet retain their natural shapes. I suppose 'tis useless to inquire what could inspire such fickleness in a machine! I'd not presume to inquire as to anyone's true form, yet to be robbed of it must be quite a frustration.

Still, I have pondered. Those of my kind, alas, bear much ill-will towards those who are not. Is it the same for natives of this plane? Or the plane whence you came? Discrimination is such a regrettable thing. Has any discovered the source of the machine's proclivities? I wonder how many it has affected in its desire to make humans of us all.

Some of you may have been acquainted with a being known as Thor. Alas, he was here but briefly, too briefly for me to truly know him! Yet, I have been made to know that he was spreading wicked untruths about my person at every conceivable opportunity. I do not blame him for it; given circumstances 'tis quite understandable. But I am not his brother, Loki-- anyone who has glimpsed my appearance can give attestations to that. I have long known that there are many Thors, many Lokis, scattered about an infinite number of dimensions, and to one of those infinite dimensions he must have belonged. I can but wonder what my counterpart may have done that his sibling would be so staunch and unforgiving.

Of course, words alone cannot bring trust, nor should they. None here can have much reason to put faith in me, and I would not have it given out so lightly. All I ask is that you not force me to pay for the crimes another has committed in my name. Also, if there is anything I might do to be of assistance, do not hesitate to ask. If the unfortunate matter with the teleportation device and the muddling of abilities does not resolve itself in the coming days, there is much that could be done.

I have want of a blade, preferably one with some heft to it. It need not be enchanted, indeed, I would prefer it not be. The weapons purveyors of this place seem much preoccupied with those small metallic rock shooters, which I have quite the distaste for. I myself am no blacksmith, so I come to thee with my request. If you can find me a suitable sword, or direct me to where I might procure one, I shall reward you adequately.

To thrust a woman into a strange place without means of self-defense is most unbecoming, don't you think?

It seems I find myself in a new circumstance, in a new world. How foreign the air doth taste! But strangeness and sweetness can be one and the same, if we are wise enough to make the best of our situation.

I, of course, have duties to my homeland that must not go long unfulfilled. Yet, as I am here, let me make the most of it. If there be a call for heroes, then I shall answer, as best I can, and humbly. I imagine we are all affected by some degree of urgency, though I pledge to help those people here whilst I still may. There are surely those among you who yet plot a return-- I would know of it, and offer my assistance, such as it is.

Is that suitable introduction? Come now, speak! I wish to know more of this place, and such people that inhabit it.
