Everyone can stop asking me if I'm all right and how I'm doing and so on any day now. And trying to avenge my supposed demise, for that matter. I swear, Superman's death didn't even cause this much fuss. It's getting ridiculous. Find another martyr, please.

Anyway, long past time I headed back to my own place. Thanks for letting crash for a bit, X-People.

Uptown apartment for now. Leopard will be visiting for a while, I think. And I already vetted the guy Kitty's going on a date with. Don't kill him.

[ The camera flickers on. Lust's mouth curves into Envy's smile. He's wearing her body, and hiser voice drips mockery. ]

Trick's on you, useless maggots.

Better luck avenging your feline friend next time.

[At first, there is only sound -- a rough but distinguishable feminine voice speaks, possibly with a slight accent]

Big guy. Big suit. Big stack of papers. Never been actually kidnapped to be interviewed for a job, but the way this economy is, should I really be complaining? [ The video feed turns on HALLO.

She cracks her knuckles casually, more compulsively out of poor annoying habit than in a threatening manner, before adjusting her hat and letting a heavy sigh flow from her lungs. ]

Very well, then. Got some questions for you all, mainly the whys and wherefores that you've probably heard enough times, if what I gather about this place is correct. I need information on how things are structured here, specifically concerning the police department and crime investigation. I've been here only a few minutes and no bodies have turned up, so that's already an improvement from Gotham, though it looks uncomfortably similar, in the whole "I go through hell weekly" kind of way.

Lull you in to a false sense of security. If this is some sort of cult thing, I'm getting really sick of this gig. An alternate dimension or universe would be a nice change. God, no more cults, what the hell.

[she lifts the tags, staring at them]

I'm not wearing this crap, by the way. Never been into the BDSM stuff.

[Obligatory shot of a male anchor behind a news desk, behind him is a video of people rushing out of a mall.]

An explosion in a mall today in Texas has been linked to the criminal known as the Joker. Reports on an exact number of casualties has yet to be released, but the death toll is estimated at at least 50. Along with the explosion, a deadly gas known as "Joker Toxin" or "Joker Venom" was released, causing victims' skin to turn white, their hair become green, and their faces frozen in a grin.

It's unclear how the Joker managed to pull off the attack, as he's currently in custody here in the city. Authorities are looking into and already there's talk of Texas demanding the Joker be tried there so he can face the death penalty. More as the news unfolds.

Up next; it could kill you instantly and you're probably using it right now. More after this commercial break.

[The display cuts off to reveal the Joker grinning in his cell.]

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, that was a good one. Time delayed explosives that go off if you don't enter a code every several days are SO essential in this line of work.

I'm driving out today.

There's a big box for donations at the MAC, I'll be back for it in a couple of weeks. Blankets, canned foods, kid's toys, cleaning supplies, building supplies. Anything you want to part with, really, we're gonna need it.

[Private to Yoite]

Take care 'til I get back, kid.

I think the Porter's going to be acting up again, if it hasn't already.

You still here?

Let's talk about teams. Vigilante teams, the kind with the important sounding names and often unflattering costumes.

Now, I hate to be the bearer of common sense, but these teams? Depend on teamwork. It's not a military hierarchy, you need the general consent of everyone involved to effect major changes, not just word from the top. This means, everyone in the group needs to be on the same page, new members are added with the consensus of everyone on the team. If individual members have different ideas of what the team is supposed to be about? Then said team will not be very effective. This is apparently a difficult concept to grasp.

I know there plenty of teams on this network, and that some of them try to recruit through this device. I'd urge that anyone who gets offered an invitation think carefully on the subject rather than accepting for novelty's sake. It's a serious commitment, or at least, it should be. I question whether recruitment over the network is wise in and of itself. But then, what do I know? I have so little experience in these matters.

[A few recorded curses are picked up before the video finally turns on, showing a woman looking down at the communicator. She is walking quickly and definitely does not look pleased.]

Mr. Stark!
I don’t know what you are trying to pull with this stunt, but really, this is insane even for you! Kidnapping me was bad enough, but this isn’t even… This doesn’t even make sense! Is this some kind of a joke? I don’t even know what this qualifies as, unless you really have lost your mind and are abducting people to be your pretend hero team.

[Rubs the bridge of her nose for a second, calming down and becoming more collected]

Let me make this perfectly clear, Tony. When the real Avengers find out about this, you will need all the help you can get. I will make sure that you are executed for your crimes against humanity, which is a shame because I might have put in a good word for you before now.

Did you really think that kidnapping me would get you anything?

It’s just another page in your impressively large file of crimes and failures.

Things to do:

Buy swimsuit
Buy housewarming gift
General shopping spree
Lunch with my brother
Spend some more time with my mom
Spend more time with Kitty
Don't kill Emma

Save the world

...Totally do-able, right?

On a more serious note, I know this is like a lot of people's homes and not just mine, but just in case - anyone hear of an alien race called the Shi'ar showing up here?

[identity profile] blk-arachnia.livejournal.com
[The blurred image of Blackarachnia's face can be seen.  Her comm appears to be falling.  It hits the ground with a clattering noise, soon followed by the sound of someone falling nearby it.  Any background image is now obscured by a mass of dark purple hair.  The only sounds that can be picked up are the ambient noises of the City.]

((BA just got her heart stolen and has passed out.  There will be no replies from her but feel free to come track her down.))

Stupid industrial strength lock, being locked and keeping me out can't believe this don't you know who - [Click!]

Aha! No lock can withstand the thieving prowess of The Phantom Renegade!

[The door swings open and Renegade stands staring at the room's contents for a moment. Those of you having paid attention to Swindle's last post may recognize it as the storage room where he filmed his little commercial, with most of the displays still standing.]

Aaaahahaha! It's like taking candy from a baby! [short pause] A six foot, well armed alien baby. Mmm.

Well! No time like the present, I always say! And speaking of presents, I might as well help myself. Wouldn't want these falling into the wrong hands.

[a pause, then the sound of him fumbling with the communicator]

What the - is this thing on? [end transmission]

I've found it kind of hard to keep up what I was doing before when there's only a handful of people with connections to spirits here that I know of. And I've seen nothing of the sort around the city... then again, considering how hugely different our worlds are, maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.

But maybe now that Kaiba-san is here, we can change that, at least a little.

...Speaking of Kaiba-san, I think he might be pissed off at me. Uhhh, so then, is there anything I can do to fix that starting off on the wrong foot that doesn't involve me telling you who planted the bombs on your building in the future? I thought about it, and I think I need him alive to get where I am now. And, well, screwed up as my time there was, I'm pretty satisfied with the end result.

And I heard Yuugi-san still hasn't come back since being killed. It's unfortunate, because I would've wanted to talk to him if I'd known he was here, and a lot of people seem really upset over it, understandably. But who knows, maybe he was revived and simply sent home before he had a chance to say goodbye. It's better to hope for the best, I think, considering there's really nothing anyone can do about it.

It's surprising, really.

Usually people don't slip out of my sight that easily . . . but it seems one of my very favorites has managed.

So in the interests of this game of hide and seek: Come out, come out, wherever you are, 03~!

So disappointing when they don't leave a forwarding address.

[dead silence. dead, dead silence. the DEADEST silence. okay yeah it's also punctuated by light, quiet breathing. then, suddenly! a woman's voice, low and deceptively sweet. y'all should know who this is by now, and she sounds amused. 8)]

At least a hundred humans dead in the West end, people's hearts torn out of their chests by a demon, and I suddenly reach that level of priority because of one woman's life. You really are the worst kind of hypocrites.

Thiiiis might be a silly question, but.

How many of you are actually aware of, say. Giant robots walking amongst us? And not minding?

Maybe? Yes?

I'm okay with weird, but giant robots. How. What. I don't even... Okay.
